Char Dham Yatra
After considering the contribution of spirituality to the high tourism rate of India, travel companies have started designing pilgrimage holiday packages in India which one can opt for if they are willing to embark on India Pilgrimage Tours. Why plan Char Dham Yatra? All the four holy pedestals constituting this divine Yatra hold some interesting mythological tales and as per the mythologies, it is believed that one who embarks on this holy Yatra gets all the desired wishes and their unflinching faith and deep devotion to gods and goddesses bless them with lifelong prosperity and wealth. It is also considered that Char Dham Yatra is one of those pilgrimages where devotees can visit to dwell in spiritual bliss and can also attain some adventurous moments as the shrines are located at extreme locations. Which are four holy shrines that complete this circuit? The circuit consists of four holy shrines that are located in four different directions in the state of Uttarakhand and are dedicated to different gods and goddesses Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Badrinath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Gangotri, and Yamunotri are the originating points of River Ganga and the Yamuna respectively and so dedicated to Goddess Ganga and Yamuna. Let’s discuss these holy sites in detail. Yamunotri- Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, Yamunotri falls first in the circuit of Char Dham Yatra and is considered to be one of the most challenging and physically tiring pilgrimages as the shrine is nestled at a huge elevation and to reach there one needs to cover the challenging trekking trail. Gangotri- The second stopover of the holy circuit in Uttarakhand, Gangotri is dedicated to River Ganga. Unlike Yamunotri, it is not difficult to visit this Dham as it is located at a proper location and the vehicle drops you at a very short walking distance from the temple gate. Kedarnath- Another physically and mentally taxing pilgrimage, Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Kedar (an incarnation of Shiva, the supreme god of Hindus). This revered Dham is tucked at an elevation of almost 3584 meters above sea level so this is all to imagine the difficulty level of accessing this shrine. However, its insane location doesn’t impact its tourism rate and the temple is flocked by millions of devotees every year. Badrinath- The last pilgrimage falling in the circuit, Badrinath is one of the most sought and visited destinations in Uttarakhand and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Likewise Gangotri, it is also easily accessible as the roads are well-maintained here and the vehicle drops you only a few meters away from the temple. How to plan Char Dham Yatra? There are several things that you need to take care of if you are planning to cover this pilgrimage Tour. Being located at extreme altitudes, Char Dham Yatra requires a lot of pre-planning, and some of the most important ones are mentioned below. Check the best time to plan your visit This is the most important thing to consider as the weather in these regions is inconsistent and so if you don’t keep yourself updated with the climatic conditions then your trip might get spoiled. So, be wise and stay updated with the recent weather updates and road conditions. How to reach? The shrines in the circuit can be accessed well by opting for any of the transportation modes viz. road transport, rail transport, and air transport. However, the best way to access these shrines is to reach the shrines by flying as this not only saves your time but also makes your journey exciting and soulful. I told her that Shakti Peeth is a destination that has a religious connotation and which has a lot of energy. These places have been existing for a long and have become the hub of pilgrimage for all devotees. I also added that the Shakti Peethas are places where people go to propitiate the Goddess Shakti or Goddess Parvati or Goddess Durga which can be seen during the 9 Devi Darshan Yatra. The entire country has many such Shakti Peetha, I told my daughter. “Who are these goddesses?” asked my son. I told them that this Goddess Parvati is the incarnation of the Adi Parashakti. She has three forms, the Goddess of Power Durga, who is also the Goddess of strength, Goddess Kali who is the Goddess of the destruction of evil, then the Goddess Gowri who is the goddess of goodness. “Why did these Shakti Peethas originate?” asked my children together. I told them that in the Satya Yuga, Daksha had performed puja with a need to defeat Lord Shiva. He was angry because his daughter Sati had married Lord Shiva and he was unhappy about it. He invited many deities except Shiva for a feast in his house. Shiva went in spite of not having the invitation and got insulted. Sati couldn’t bear this and burnt herself. Shiva got angry and beheaded Daksha and then replaced it with a goat’s head after he felt sorry. He took Sati’s body and many pieces fell on the earth’s surface. The place where each of her parts fell today is believed to be Shakti Peeth.
My children were quite excited after this story. So I continued. Children if told the stories and legends of the past really like to hear more and more about it. At all Shakti Peethas, the Goddess Shakti is accompanied by Lord Bhairava (a manifestation of Lord Shiva). So India has Shakti Peeth? Asked my daughter. This Amarnath yatra is a religious journey that is undertaken in the months of July or August and is famous at this time because the Amar Shivling is visible to all.
